TAX VETO: Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. of Maryland has vetoed legislation that would have increased corporate income taxes and given extra money to state universities so that they could limit annual tuition increases to no more than 5 percent. The Republican governor said increasing taxes would hurt businesses and would hamper their ability to offer good jobs to the state's college graduates.
