COMMISSIONER RETIRES: The Utah System of Higher Education will be getting new leadership. Richard E. Kendell, commissioner of the system since September 2003, said that he would step down in December so that he and his wife could "move to the next phase of our lives." Mr. Kendell pushed for greater cooperation between the state's colleges and universities and worked to increase enrollment and graduation rates.
