In Bid to Retain Accreditation, Community College in Texas Drops 145 Part-Time Instructors

A community college in Irving, Tex., has cut 145 part-time instructors from its payroll in the past several months after its accreditor, as well as an internal college audit, deemed them underqualified for their posts.

Those dismissals, along with the loss of six other instructors who left on their own, shrank the number of faculty members at North Lake College, part of the Dallas Community College District, by more than one-quarter.
