Immigrants Receive Break at U. of Calif.
University of California regents voted last week to allow many immigrants who have lived in the state illegally to pay cheaper, in-state tuition rates at the institution's nine campuses.
In October, Gov. Gray Davis, a Democrat, signed legislation that allows illegal immigrants who attend California high schools for three years and who graduate to pay the lower tuition rates at California State University campuses and public community colleges. To receive the benefit, those students
