Ill. Supports Stem-Cell Research
Illinois has become the fourth state to dedicate public funds for research on human embryonic stem cells.
Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich, a Democrat, announced in July that his state will devote $10-million in grants for such research. A spokeswoman, Rebecca L. Rausch, said the state will form a body called the Illinois Regenerative Medicine Institute to award such grants, but has not yet determined when it will distribute the funds.
