Identifying Students With Mental Illness

In their essay, Summer M. Berman, Shari Strauss, and Natasha Verhage suggest that professors take note of students' symptoms of mental illness and act in some way ("Treating Mental Illness in Students: a New Strategy," Opinion, June 16). My experience at both public and private institutions is that if a professor who is not a mental-health professional suggests verbally or in writing to a student that he or she has a mental disorder needing
