IRS Issues Final Version of Tax Form for Colleges and Other Nonprofit Groups

The Internal Revenue Service unveiled on Thursday the final version of the new Form 990, the tax-return document that nonprofit colleges, foundations, and other charitable organizations are required to file annually.

The new form, along with as many as 15 related schedules, is to be used beginning with the 2008 tax year, for returns filed in 2009. The IRS has been seeking changes in the form so that it provides more information to the public about charity leaders' pay and
