IRS Apparently Will Allow Donors to Continue Deducting Cost of Luxury-Box Rentals

Athletics directors are breathing sighs of suite relief.

The Internal Revenue Service apparently has decided that donors who lease luxury suites at college football stadiums and basketball arenas can take a tax deduction on suite-rental fees, according to Sheldon E. Steinbach, general counsel of the American Council on Education. An official ruling is expected by mid-July.
