IBM Pledges $100-Million in Cash and Equipment to SUNY Campus
Money and machines will make up much of the largest gift ever to the State University of New York at Albany.
The International Business Machines Corporation has pledged $100-million to the SUNY institution. The donation, to be made over three years, will consist of $25-million in cash, plus equipment valued by I.B.M. at $75-million, including a "clean room" for producing semiconductor chips.
The gift will support research on the design and manufacture of ultrathin silicon wafers
