Hurricanes Help Disperse Animal Species Among Caribbean Islands, Scientists Say

Scientists have long argued how the islands of the Caribbean managed to become home to many of the same animal species, even though the islands are separated from one another by wide expanses of water.

In the October 8 issue of Nature, researchers presented evidence that hurricanes may be partly responsible. At least 15 green iguanas apparently landed on the island of Anguilla on October 4, 1995, according to
