Hunger Strikers Give Up at Purdue U.

Students at Purdue University ended their three-week-old hunger strike today, a day after the university’s president, Martin C. Jischke, rejected their bid to get Purdue to tighten its anti-sweatshop policies for companies that manufacture university-licensed apparel and other merchandise. The protesters, who began their hunger strike on November 17, said they had made some progress, even if they had failed to persuade Purdue to change its policies., according to the Journal and Courier, a newspaper in Lafayette, Ind.
