Humanities Research Is Alive, Well, and Useful

The problem with Mark Bauerlein's otherwise thoughtful article ("Diminishing Returns in Humanities Research," The Chronicle Review, July 24) is that he appears to be under the impression that "the humanities" is a stagnant, historical collection of "well-worn subjects" (Shakespeare, Milton, Wordsworth, Virginia Woolf).
