Humanities Council Proposes Policy Shift to Favor Shorter-Term Projects
The National Council on the Humanities is proposing a new policy to give first priority to financing scholarly projects with a specific timetable -- perhaps five to seven years. The directors of these projects have feared such a policy shift, saying that a loss of federal funds would be difficult to make up.
The council, the advisory body for the National Endowment for the Humanities, may also recommend giving special consideration to projects that can publish a limited number of
