Egyptian police have arrested an American-Egyptian sociologist who is a prominent advocate for human rights.

Saad Eddin Ibrahim is a professor at the American University in Cairo and director of the Ibn Khaldun Center, which sponsors research on human rights and minorities in the Arab world.
