How to Survive a Campus Shooting: Southern Illinois U. Posts a Training Video

Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville has posted an online training video on how to survive a mass shooting. The short video instructs viewers on “how to develop a survival mind-set if lightning does strike.”

University officials told the Associated Press that the video may increase a person’s chances of escaping harm if a gunman were to start firing on the campus.

The video, entitled “Shots Fired,” was produced by the Center for Personal Protection and Safety. It includes a re-enactment of a workplace shooting, an interviews with a hostage negotiator from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and tips on how to plan for — and respond to — shots fired. —Eric Hoover
