How to Strike the Right (Foot)note

To the Editor:

I appreciated your article about citation software, as it will help to demonstrate these benefits of personal bibliographic managers to more faculty members, who may advise their students to take advantage of the software as well ("Toss Out the Index Cards," The Chronicle, June 9).

I agree with those who believe that EndNote or RefWorks may be overkill for undergraduates, given the nature of their research assignments. Honors students required to produce a thesis
