College presidents share panel's goals but face pressure not to change too much

The basic theme of last month's report from the Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics is clear: College athletics is in crisis, and its emphasis on commercial interests over academics compromises the fundamental mission of higher education.
