How Women Actually Perform in Distance Education

Do women fare worse than men in distance-education programs? Some scholars claim that women and men behave and learn differently in classrooms, and that women are less likely to enjoy and to benefit from the remote setup.

For example, Cheyenne M. Bonnell, a visiting assistant professor of English at Northwest College, in Wyoming, was quoted in a story in The Chronicle, (October 31, 1997) as saying
