How Other Universities Contribute to Their Communities
Many colleges, including those that make payments in lieu of taxes, donate money to their communities. The following research universities reported that they do not make any payments in lieu of taxes but cited these contributions to their localities.
Dartmouth College. Since 1957, the city has required the university to pay taxes on dormitories, dining rooms, and kitchens whose values exceed $150,000. Between 2004 and 2009, the university has also made annual payments
