How One Community College Copes When Online Enrollment Soars
Glenn Merrick, a biology instructor at Lake Superior College, is developing a course on the biology of aging that he eventually plans to offer online. But that doesn't mean he embraces the college's push for distance learning.
"Online education is a problem, particularly with science instructors," Mr. Merrick says. "The fear among faculty is high about losing contact with students and the ability to directly engage them in what goes on in the lab or field."
