House Passes Bill on Nanotechnology Research

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a bill that would promote research into nanotechnology, the engineering of materials at the atomic and molecular levels. Among other things, the research could help scientists develop faster computers and create databases that could store vast quantities of information.

The bill, HR 766, passed 405 to 19 this month. HR766 would authorize the government to spend about $2.4-billion over three years on grants to coordinate nationwide
