House Panel Approves Stricter Rules for Teacher-Training Programs
Programs that train teachers would have to comply with stricter accountability provisions under a bill approved last week by members of a U.S. House of Representatives education subcommittee, marking the beginning of legislation this year to reauthorize the Higher Education Act.
A second bill approved by the lawmakers, HR 438, would provide greater forgiveness of student-loan debt to some mathematics, science, and special-education teachers.
