House Moves to Avert Student-Loan Crisis

The House of Representatives has finally approved a bill that would avert an impending crisis in the guaranteed-student-loan program and eventually reduce the cost of borrowing for students.

The bill, which the House passed last month by a vote of 372 to 3, will now go to the White House, where President Bush is expected to sign it. The Senate approved the bill in December, but the House voted it down that month, after partisan bickering broke out over another bill that was unrelated
