House Democrats Complain About Delay in Reports on Teacher-Education Programs
Thirty-two Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives sent a complaint last week to Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley over delays in developing federally mandated report cards for colleges that train teachers.
The letter criticizes the Education Department's decision to extend by a year the deadline for colleges to report their graduates' performance on state licensing and certification exams. Mr. Riley agreed last fall to give colleges more time to meet the accountability
