House Backs Appeal of Recruiting Law

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a resolution urging the Bush administration to challenge a November court decision that allows colleges to restrict military recruiting on their campuses.

The decision, by a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, in Philadelphia, said a coalition of law schools has a First Amendment right to exclude recruiters whose hiring policies violate campus codes barring discrimination against gay men and lesbians. The 2-to-1 ruling
