Homeless Catson the Campus

I applaud the success of the Stanford Cat Network, and particularly Carole Miller, in reducing the numbers of feral cats and improving their quality of life at Stanford University ("The Cat People," The Chronicle, September 28).
Dedicated caretakers working around the country on campuses and in business parks, private backyards, and elsewhere demonstrate that "trap, neuter, return" is an effective strategy. The effectiveness of simply trapping and removing feral
