When Kent State University's leaders were considering a bonus program for faculty members, they already had a model for how an employee-incentive program could pay off.
A year before creating the faculty plan, the university introduced incentives for fund raisers, who can earn bonuses worth up to 10 percent of their salaries by meeting specific performance goals.
