Higher-Education Groups Issue Statement on Academic Rights and Intellectual Diversity on Campuses
The American Council on Education and more than two dozen other higher-education groups released a joint statement last week laying out their positions on intellectual diversity in academe.
The document comes as state legislatures and Congress consider calling on public colleges to rid themselves of what many lawmakers see as political and other biases.
The groups say the statement is meant to stake out their views on academic freedom and their commitment to pluralism of ideas,
