High-Court Ruling Supports Colleges' Powers to Lay Claim to Property
A ruling last month by the U.S. Supreme Court means that private colleges retain the power to acquire private property against the owners' will.
In a 5-to-4 decision, the Supreme Court held that state and city governments may use the power of eminent domain to claim property that will benefit a private entity.
