Helicopter Parents Not the Whole Story
To the Editor:
In "Helicopter Parents Help Students, Survey Finds" (The Chronicle, November 9), Sara Lipka shares information from the National Survey of Student Engagement that "students whose parents intervene on their behalf — 38 percent of freshmen and 29 percent of seniors — are more active in and satisfied with college." I suggest that there is more to this phenomenon, when we analyze the situation a bit deeper.
