Heidegger, Philosophy, and Morality
To the Editor:
Peter Monaghan's survey of the film The Ister speaks about a more "nuanced" treatment of Heidegger's role during the Nazi period ("Time and the River (and Heidegger)," The Chronicle, June 10). It is difficult to understand why we need nuances for someone who loudly proclaimed "Heil, Hitler" ... and who lived in prosperity while millions of his fellow human beings were slaughtered by the regime that he supported.
