Hearing Focuses on For-Profit Colleges
Republicans on the U.S. House of Representatives' education committee argued at a hearing last week that federal student-aid laws discriminate against students at for-profit colleges.
The lawmakers said the College Access and Opportunity Act (HR 4283), which they introduced last month to renew the Higher Education Act, would ease restrictions that limit access and federal aid for those students. Democrats on the panel said provisions in the bill would open the door to fraud and
