A former student at the University of South Carolina at Columbia has sued the university, the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, and eight members of the group for what he says was a brutal hazing last fall that sent him to the hospital, the Associated Press reported. The fraternity chapter has been suspended, and seven of the eight members face misdemeanor hazing charges and campus disciplinary action. —Andrew Mytelka
