Harvard Settles on New Undergraduate Curriculum, After Lengthy Debate

Finally!

After years of discussion, Harvard University has settled on a new undergraduate curriculum. Students will take courses in seven areas, including “sciences of living systems” and “ethical reasoning.”

Harvard’s deliberations have been watched closely because its decisions on such matters often influence other institutions. An earlier proposal drew notice because of its emphasis on the study of religion, but that requirement was subsequently dropped. —Thomas Bartlett
