Harvard Returns a Sheikh's Much-Criticized Gift
Putting an end to more than a year of controversy, Harvard University said last week that it would return a $2.5-million gift from the president of the United Arab Emirates, who had asked for his money back.
The gift, presented to the Harvard Divinity School in 2000 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, was criticized by Harvard students and faculty members last year because of his affiliation with the Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-Up, a research organization in Abu Dhabi,
