Harvard Medical Modifies Ethics Policy

Harvard Medical School professors will be allowed to earn more money from companies that use their research, under a revised conflict-of-interest policy, but they will face tougher restrictions on the management positions they can hold in those companies.

The new rules, which will take effect this fall, are the first revisions to Harvard's conflict-of-interest policy in more than a decade. The debate over Harvard's policy attracted national attention because of early indications that
