Harvard University said today that it was broadening its financial-aid awards to needy students, such that parents in families with annual incomes of less than $60,000 would no longer be expected to contribute to the cost of their children’s Harvard education. In addition, according to a news release, Harvard will reduce the expected contributions of families with annual incomes from $60,000 to $80,000. The move follows a similar announcement last week by the University of Pennsylvania (The Chronicle, March 23).
