Harassment Verdict Overturned in Iowa
The Iowa Supreme Court has reversed a jury verdict that awarded $3-million to a woman who said she was sexually harassed by a professor at Iowa State University. Her lawyer said last week that she was likely to appeal, and the case could go back to court for a third trial.
Paul Tanaka, a lawyer for Iowa State, said the university was pleased about the decision, calling the trial jury's decision "unfair" and its award "excessive."
