Hank Brown to Retire From Colorado Presidency; AAUP Chief Dusts Off His Résumé; Northeastern U. Plans $40-Million Hiring Spree
ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOODBYE: Hank Brown, who has led the University of Colorado out of a morass of scandals and financial troubles, announced last week that he would step down next year.
Mr. Brown, 66, agreed in April 2005 to take over as interim president of the system after the abrupt resignation of Elizabeth Hoffman. At the time, the university was weathering scandals and bad publicity, including allegations that the football program on the flagship Boulder campus had supplied
