Guidelines Are Developed to Help Colleges Follow Provisions of Financial-Accountability Law
The chorus calling for improved governance and greater financial accountability at colleges and universities just got a little louder.
Fitch Ratings, which assesses the investment risk of bonds, has begun taking into account whether colleges are voluntarily adopting provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
The federal law was passed in 2002 to rein in rogue corporations and to restore investors' confidence in publicly traded companies.
