Guarded Optimism on the Job Trail

This year's college graduates face brighter employment prospects -- but also fierce competition

Girl Scout cookies, canisters of mints, pens, and water bottles are all free for the taking here at a campus job fair on a Wednesday morning. Most of the enticements are adorned with the logos of insurance companies, volunteer organizations, or government agencies.
