Grokster Shuts Down Service for Swapping Files and Settles With Entertainment Industries
Grokster, the company that became a flashpoint in a protracted legal battle over online music and movie piracy, stopped distributing its peer-to-peer software last week as part of a settlement with record companies and movie studios.
The shutdown, announced on Grokster's Web site, brings the legal saga of the once-popular peer-to-peer network to an unceremonious close.
