Graduate Student, Employee, Union Member? Teaching Assistants Try to Define Their Roles
To the Editor:
In addition to the many possible points that I could raise in favor of considering graduate teaching assistants as employees ("Teaching Assistants Plan Showdown Over Unionization," November 13), I have one point against: Graduate T.A.'s have been fighting Congress in order to have their stipends remain tax free. If they become employees, then they will no longer have an argument to be taxed
