Graduate School for Beginners

As a researcher in the field of graduate education with an emphasis on doctoral-student development, I feel compelled to respond to David Glenn's "Graduate-School Leaders Want Ph.D. Candidates to Finish Sooner and With Better Job Prospects" (The Chronicle, Web edition, April 1).
