Graduate Education in Black Studies
To the Editor:
I read with interest and regret Nellie McKay's report from the field, and I do not doubt for a moment the general truth of her account ("What Does Genuine Respect for African-American Literature Mean?," Opinion, July 17). It is a sad fact that the academy continues to educate too few people in the traditions that inform the African-American literary, historical, and cultural experience.
