Grad Students Need Mentors, Not BFF's

I found Thomas J. Straka's lengthy complaint about his graduate students offensive and disingenuous ("The Professor as BFF," The Chronicle Review, May 8). The spoiled, BFF-seeking brats he describes bear no relation to myself or any of the other grad students I know.
