Governors to Colleges: Focus on the Economy
State governments, postsecondary-education systems, boards of regents, and the private sector should collaborate in setting agendas to ensure that the work of colleges is aligned with the economic needs of each state, according to a report presented at the annual meeting of the National Governors Association, held in July.
The goal of the association's report, "A Compact for Postsecondary Education," is to set up such compacts in each state so colleges and universities graduate highly
