Government's Request for Data May Delay Blackboard's Purchase of WebCT
The U.S. Department of Justice has asked for more information about the proposed acquisition of WebCT Inc. by Blackboard Inc., a request that may delay the merger by a few months.
Michael Chasen, president of Blackboard, said last week that the Justice Department's request was not unusual; antitrust regulators often ask a second round of questions about mergers. "It is nothing out of the ordinary," he said. "They just want more information about the companies."
