Gore and Bush Squabble Over Vice President's Plan for Tuition Tax Breaks

Has Vice President Al Gore been exaggerating the benefits of his proposal to let families deduct up to $10,000 a year in college tuition from their federal taxes? His Republican opponent, Gov. George W. Bush of Texas, thinks so.

Higher education received little mention in last week's presidential debate, but aides to the candidates sparred behind the scenes over details of the vice president's plan.
