Good Morning, Fiji!
Not so much boom-boom-boom. More like chi-pow ... chi-pow ... chi-pow. The selection being played here at Radio Pasifik, the student FM radio station of the University of the South Pacific, begins all soft and pittery-pattery, almost calypsolike, as befits a part of the world studded with bone-white beaches, azure seas, and gently swaying palms.
Then the Samoan ensemble on the disk player kicks into life with a swirl of aboriginal chants and tribal plainsong, backed with some drum
